How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
This role supports the Brighthouse Financial reinsurance subsidiaries accounting and reporting functions. Coordinates with team for successful completion of monthly close, analysis, review/preparation of the external GAAP and STAT financial statements and participation in projects to maintain and improve business continuity. Works with reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records and prepare required financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
? Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end regulatory reporting, financial statements, disclosures and related information for GAAP and STAT requirements
? Research variances and review quarterly analytics for completion of monthly close
? Review GAAP and STAT literature for interpretation of proper accounting treatment
? Will be a key player with the implementation of reinsurance accounting for Long Duration Target Improvements which include reviewing and updating financial disclosures
? Monitors the adequacy of trust assets to be in compliance with reinsurance agreements
? Interaction and coordination with the internal/external auditors, lines of business, administrative areas, Treasury, Technical Accounting and actuaries in carrying out assigned financial reporting responsibilities
? Responsible for assigned process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects and communication with management on progress of such items
? Performs other related duties as assigned or required
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
? BS/BA in accounting or finance
? 4 or more years experience in financial accounting and reporting
? CPA or working towards preferred or willing to obtain
? Public accounting experience not required but ideal
? Insurance experience preferred, Reinsurance a plus
? Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
? Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
? Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
? Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting practices/procedures
? Highly proficient in Excel and must be able to learn other systems used quickly

? Compensation: Base salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results
