Paraprofessional As a paraprofessional you will be part of a multi disciplinary team that supports students with autism, developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. You will work in a classroom with a Specialist Education teacher and assist with classroom management, lessons and behavior support.

Responsibilities:

• Provides appropriate behavioral interventions for disruptive and or struggling students
• Collect data on behavior and academic interventions
• Report accurately and immediately any student issues or concerns
• Use discretion and tact when working with confidential information and exercises good judgment in all situations
• Maintain records and educational materials in accordance with professional standards
• Substitute and provide support for others directed by immediate supervisor or administration
• Report all suspected child abuse/neglect to appropriate team members and authorities
• Carries out lesson plans to students and co-teaches the classroom with the Special Education teacher
• Works closely with teachers counselors, mental health, outside agencies, and administration to assist students with special needs
• Participates in all required meetings and professional development trainings as assigned
• Be pro-active, monitor student behavior, remove student before behavior escalates
• Be accessible, encouraging, and supportive to students and colleagues
• Assumes responsibilities assigned by administration in order to facilitate a safe, orderly, positive learning environment
• Additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Strong desire, willingness and experience working with at-risk youth (preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
• Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test)

• Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.

This is contract position for academic year 2022-2023. Behavior technician certification (RBT) may be offered.

Autism/Special Education experience is a plus!

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends
