The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (DCIA) is an integral member of the Bricolage Academy leadership team. This team member is an instructional and strategic leader who works closely with the School Principal to support teaching staff in curriculum implementation and development of instructional practices. The DCIA is responsible for ensuring significant and measurable academic gains, each year, with all students. The DCIA will report to the School Principal

Position Responsibilities

Implementation of Curriculum & Delivery of High-Quality Instruction:

• Collaborates with the School Principal to recruit, select and develop a team of educators.

• Leads community meetings, faculty meetings, and administrative meetings

• Responsible for the implementation of the selected curriculum, instructional and assessment programs

• Ensures all academic programs, policies, systems, structures, & routines prioritize safety,inclusivity, equity, & support

• Researches and coordinates (with the Principal) the selection of instructional/program materials and resources.

• Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students including English Language Learners, students enrolled in Special Education and students with diverse learning needs.

• Participates in daily, weekly and quarterly meetings about student achievement, progress and intervention

Coaching and Feedback

• Facilitates meetings in which grade level and content specific teams meet to determine and monitor student placement in/growth during teaching of core curriculum

• Observes teachers on a regular basis and provides detailed feedback, both written and oral, formal and informal

• Uses Bricolage Academy’s observation tools to frequently observe, coach, and manage teachers and records/documents all formal evaluations

• Ensures parent(s)/guardian(s) are provided frequent updates/feedback regarding student progress and performance and classroom activities.

Data Usage

• Provides and analyzes all relevant achievement and learning data, reports and information to Bricolage staff and community when appropriate.

• Analyzes and utilize formative student and teacher data to guide data-based decision making and enhance direct instruction and Tier 1 interventions

• Utilizes web-based tools such as FastBridge, Educlimber, Excel, and other such tools to collect data and monitor student progress.

• Creates, organizes and maintains “folders” (either electronic or paper) that travel with each child as they matriculate through Bricolage Academy

• Collects quality data and collaborates with members of the academic and instructional team(s) for support when needed

• Monitors student progress according to the RtI calendar and makes necessary data-driven adjustments between tiers

Student Assistance Team

• Serves as a member of the Student Assistance Team (SATeam) as needed

• Collaborates with SAT Team to refer students to additional intervention resources, service providers, and/or Special Education or 504 evaluations as needed

Other Responsibilities

• Participate in Bricolage team activities, including trainings and staff meetings

• Attend professional development conferences and learning groups, as needed

• Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with school administrators, school staff and parents on a regular basis regarding program activities.

• Develop rapport and build relationships with Bricolage instructional staff, support staff and parents

Position Qualifications

• Strong belief in the Bricolage Academy mission, vision and core values

• Four (4) years minimum teaching experience

• Demonstrated success raising student achievement, particularly for students in need of supplemental, academic intervention

• Highly organized with exceptional detail orientation and sense of personal responsibility

• Self-starter who enjoys learning new things and utilizing a variety of resources

• Proficiency with technology in an office setting including word processing and spreadsheets;

• Comfortable and excited by working in a dynamic environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated success and outcomes in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
