Working Title: Math Tutor.

Position Information

Work Schedule Schedule will vary between 8:00am-9:00pm (Including weekends)

-Must be able to teach academic success strategies to a diverse student population in a one-on-one or small group setting.

-Ability to work a flexible schedule.

-Preference can be given to individuals who have tutoring experience or other educational qualifications.

-Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and have skills to develop written reports.

-Must be attentive to detail and accurate in record keeping.

-Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Courses Descriptions:

• College Algebra: This course is symbolically intensive, functional approach to algebra that incorporates the use of appropriate technology. Emphasis will be placed on the study of functions and their graphs, inequalities, and linear, quadratic, piece-wise defined, rational, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Appropriate applications will be included.

• Precalculus: Analytic geometry, the function concept, polynomials, exponential, logarithms, trigonometric functions, mathematical induction, and the theory of equations. May only be used for degree credit with departmental approval.

• Differential Calculus: Differential calculus including applications and the underlying theory of limits for functions and sequences.

• Integral Calculus: Integral calculus: Definite and indefinite integrals, techniques of integration, improper integrals, infinite series, applications.

• Introduction to Linear Algebra: An introduction to linear alegbra including eigenvalues and eigenvectors, applications to linear systems, least squares.

• Linear Algebra: Linear algebra eigenvalues, eigenvectors, applications to linear systems, least squares, diagnolization, quadratic forms.

• Finite Mathematics: Linear equations, matrices, linear programming, sets and counting, probability and statistics.

• Survey of Calculus: Techniques of differentiation, integration, application of integration to probability and statistics, multidimensional calculus.

• Multivariable Calculus: Linear approximation and Taylor’s theorems, Lagrange multiples and constrained optimization, multiple integration and vector analysis including the theorems of Green, Gauss, and Stokes.

• Differential Equations: Methods for obtaining numerical and analytic solutions of elementary differential equations. Applications are also discussed with an emphasis on modeling.

Introduction to Discrete Mathematics: Mathematical logic and proof, mathematical induction, counting methods, recurrence relations, algorithms and complexity, graph theory and graph algorithms.
