Assistant Project Engineer (Contract)

Term

Contract length – 6-12 months

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Assistant Project Engineer (Contract) shall be part of a team responsible for delivering a portfolio of energy storage projects. This shall include:

1. Design Co-ordination for one or more projects:
   1. Co-ordinate the design inputs from all contractors responsible for design on site
   2. Proactively identify design issues early and resolve these issues or escalate to the head of engineering
   3. Lead design co-ordination meetings between all contractors responsible for design
   4. Manage design register and provide regular updates to the project team
   5. Manage contractors’ due dates and ensuring contractors deliver their required design deliverables correctly and on time
2. Document Control for one or more projects:
   1. Manage all drawings and calculations required for the project
   2. Ensure correct and latest revisions of all drawings and calculations are used by all contractors in the design, development and construction of the project.
3. Communicating Design Information between Contractors and to Site Team for one or more projects:
   1. Regular site visits to review design developments with site based team and to assist project management team in any design related issues that arise during construction
4. Undertaking an Owners Engineer role, providing review of design work undertaken by contractors
5. Representing the company in meetings with designers, suppliers and on site

Useful Additional Skills

In addition to the main duties, it would be beneficial if the Project Engineer had some or all of the following skills:

• Knowledge of energy storage plant construction
• AutoCAD 2D

Key Personal Characteristics

• Attention to detail
• Written and verbal communication
• Building relationships with both office based and site based teams

Experience

5-10 years within a renewables or energy generation environment (gas peaking plants, energy storage, wind, solar) supporting construction projects

Location

Hybrid working – typically 3 days a week in Central London, and 2 days a week home office with regular travel to sites across the UK

Qualifications

MEng in Civil and Structural Engineering or equivalent
