Would you like to help our Gas & Low Carbon Energy business and support bp’s ambition to become Net Zero? As a member of the Accounting, Reporting and Control (ARC) team you will provide support to Gas & Low Carbon Energy business in Australia. Reporting to the Finance Controller in delivering financial accounting and reporting to the business in a timely manner as well as providing assurance and guidance to the transactional accounting processes.

More about the role
To be successful in this role, you will have established Accounting skills coupled with an ability to engage key stakeholders within bp and with our joint venture partner. You will have a proactive approach and draw on your sound accounting knowledge to provide clear advice and recommendations to the transactional accounting team. You will:

• Provide oversight to the execution of the monthly and quarterly closings and financial reporting processes, ensuring appropriate controls are exercised by offshore teams based in Budapest and Pune.
• Support Non-Operated JV activities including interface with Operator
• Support internal and external audits & closure of requests in time.
• Perform Royalty calculation on monthly basis.
• Carrying out balance sheet assurance work
• Work with the team leader and business stakeholders to understand the priorities and work to deliver against these as required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a range of activities as part of a small Perth based team, along with the chance to work closely with our teams in Europe, India.

About you
First and foremost, to be successful in this role you have good communication skills and use these to build solid working relationships with all levels of stakeholders. You should be excited about modernization and simplification; proactively self-learning and bringing your ideas to how processes can be improved. You aren’t afraid to use your knowledge to provide advice and fix problems.

You also have:

• An understanding of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)
• Analytical, financial control and accounting knowledge
• Ability to strengthen controls around end to end process
• A proven track record of delivering results
• Intermediate Microsoft excel skill
• 3+ years experience in accounting and analysis role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance is required – CA/CPA qualified is preferable.
• Good understanding of SAP system.
