About the Role

Refining PPM (Planning and Performance) supports our 7 refineries globally producing more than 1.5 million barrels of day of products. We partner across our operations, midstream and supply, accounting, and trading organizations to ensure the most accurate performance is recorded for our refineries in a controlled and clear way.

This role will be responsible for the gross margin reporting at our Cherry Point Refinery in Washington (United States). Reporting line for this role is into a central team, however locally positioned at the refinery due to the importance of our operational relationships.

bp’s pacific northwest operations are primarily in Whatcom County, near Blaine, Washington. That is the home of Cherry Point refinery, one of the most modern refineries in the US, the largest in Washington, and the fourth largest on the West Coast. It supplies about 20 percent of Washington’s gasoline needs and fuels, and a significant amount of the jet fuel to Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, BC international airports.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the GM analysis and reporting for the Cherry Point refinery including performance reviews
• Analysis of monthly GM actuals to provide insight of underlying performance including preparation of performance bridges for reporting with consistent and controlled performance buckets consistent with the segment reporting guide
• Key contributor for consolidating GM forecasts and plan – including adjustments and impact assessments when warranted
• Change leader to implement standardized and simplified ways of analyzing and reporting GM including continuous improvement & digital enablement where possible e.g., common data assets and streamlined processes across refineries
• Champion a “One Team” mindset and build effective partnerships with those teams that directly impact GM. For example, but not limited to Midstream & Refining production planning and optimization squads, GBS and Midstream Finance.
• Support ad hoc requests from PPM and Finance Leadership e.g., benchmarking studies, NFMI, etc.

What should you bring to this role?

• Bachelor’s degree – preferably in Finance, Engineering or directly related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Performance and Financial reporting
• Have strong leadership skills including influencing change/change management
• Effective communicator (various levels in an organization – entry level through senior leadership)

Highly desireable criteria

• Experience with data and digital tools, such as Power BI is preferred
• Agility Leadership/Delivery
• Understanding of SAP
