Accounting and Finance Manager

Bowers Design Build, McLean VA, an award-winning design/build firm specializing in larger scale home renovations, is looking for a part-time accounting and finance specialist to help us manage financial forecasting and results. This position would report directly to the company President and Owners. The position requires 10-20 hours per week depending on workload and the cyclical nature of accounting. We are looking for a person to be able to create corporate and project level finance and accounting reports and highlight the areas that require attention.

Note: We are flexible on work location. This job can be done 100% remotely or a hybrid from office with telework.

Required:

-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or general business with a focus/work experience in accounting

-5+ years’ experience in accounting or finance

-Experience with QuickBooks

-Expertise in Excel

This position can work either in our McLean office or telecommute from your home office and work hours are very flexible. You can work any time of the day as long as deadlines and commitments are met.

Duties would include:

-Review and approve monthly bookkeeper’s data from QuickBooks – monthly close out of books, journal entries

-Answer accounting related questions from bookkeeper as needed

-Create annual operating budget and associated overhead budget with input from leadership team

-Create monthly, YTD and annual P&L and Balance Sheet results reports

-Using per project revenue and expense estimates from our estimating team and entered into QuickBooks by the Bookkeeper, develop gross profit projections by month

-Update sales and gross profit projections with actual results per project and at the corporate level

-Develop and assess weekly, monthly cashflow forecasts and highlight areas of concern

-Other financial/accounting tasks as needed, for instance, creation of the data for annual business and professional taxes in each governmental jurisdiction where projects are performed

-Backfill Bookkeeper as needed for payroll preparation and bill payment

-Provide reports annually and as needed to CPA for tax preparation and analysis

-Create/provide customized reports as needed and on an ad hoc basis when requested to provide data to run the business profitably

-Suggest process improvement in our finance and accounting systems, including better or alternative uses of QuickBooks, BuilderTrend, and other software, including client electronic payments system

Pay: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour
