Duties
Alongside the Consortium for Professional Development Director, provide leadership and direction to CHEC’s training and professional development programs to support communities, Community Health Workers, BPHC staff and community health centers.
Oversee all aspects of the design, innovation, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of all CHEC programs and services including, but not limited to planning and development, instructional design, online and onsite programming, adherence to state certification training requirements, programmatic policies and procedures, and evaluation.
Provide support and assistance to the Consortium of Professional Development in meeting its goals and objectives. Leverage resources to support CHEC, Learning & Development, and BPHC workforce development goals.
Ensure programming responds to the training and professional development needs of the CHW and BPHC workforce, advances racial justice and health equity principles, and reflects the cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of the workforce and community.
Ensure continuous quality improvement of all components of CHEC activities, including programmatic and administrative functions such as curriculum development and delivery, promotion, registration, and record keeping.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, support, development, supervision, performance evaluation, promotion, discipline, and termination, when required, of all program staff and trainer consultants.
Assist the Consortium for Professional Development Director to develop, monitor, and oversee budgets and fiscal management of funds, including city funds, generated revenue, external grants, project budgets.
Monitor for new funding opportunities, and in collaboration with the Consortium for Professional Development Director, write, and submit grants and grant budgets, and report to funders as required.
Establish new partnerships, linkages, and program collaborations with other aspects of Consortium for Professional Development programming, BPHC Bureaus/Programs, community partners, and key stakeholders related to training, standards, and professional development for the CHW workforce.
Monitor, comment on and contribute to the creation of standards and regulations to support the CHW workforce and advance Massachusetts CHW certification.
Conduct presentations on CHEC’s training model at local, state, and national meetings, conferences, and webinars.
Provide technical assistance to other organizations interested in developing CHW training programs or replicating CHEC’s model.
Work in a confidential capacity with the Consortium for Professional Development Director. Meet regularly with Director regarding all aspects of program operations, including but not limited to matters pertaining to program staff and other confidential matters. Operate independently. Use independent judgment and discretion to make decisions affecting the program and staff as it relates to program operations/services and BPHC policy. Make and recommend management and personnel decisions regarding program, including but not limited to promotion, transfer and assignment of staff, and imposition of discipline.
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS plus 5 years relevant experience, or Masters plus 3 years’ experience program experience in training or public health education.
Demonstrated program management experience including personnel, contract and budgetary management and oversight required.
Extensive experience designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating training programs and corresponding curricula. Proficiency with adult learning principles and participatory training techniques.
Experience designing and implementing an online learning strategy that responds to needs of the audience, including elements such as mechanisms for online engagement, asynchronous and instructor-led learning, and selection of technology.
Demonstrated experience coordinating training programs for diverse populations.
Strong familiarity with the work of community health workers and their training needs in Massachusetts desirable.
Solid knowledge of training evaluation and quality improvement techniques highly preferred.
Experience working with Boston area community-based organizations, community health centers, and hospitals preferred. Understanding and knowledge of the needs of communities of color in Boston.
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent project planning, prioritization, and time management skills. Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Excellent ability to foster and successfully work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively to inspire, motivate and focus team members.
Proficient knowledge and experience with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of desktop publishing programs including Adobe PageMaker/InDesign preferred.
