The Global IT Sourcing Director holds overall responsibility for managing the procurement life cycle for the IT spend category. The role will manage all aspects of procurement, ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively deployed. Further, they will be required to support the function in meeting its business objectives, through ensuring compliance with the procurement policy, as well as the consistent adaptation of good commercial and professional practice.
Scope of work requires deep IT procurement expertise across strategic sourcing and operational procurement activities. BCG is a highly matrixed firm requiring high levels of stakeholder engagement, alignment and collaboration.
The Global IT Sourcing Director will lead a team of sourcing professionals who will set direction for the IT subcategories and will then execute against these strategic plans. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that the sourcing team meets cost reduction, risk reduction & mitigation, and other targets and leverages the capabilities of the supply market to help internal clients gain and sustain a competitive advantage.
The Global IT Sourcing Director will also be responsible for ensuring that Procurement is involved at the earliest stages within the procurement lifecycle and that Procurement is involved in new IT investments. This role is expected to interact with other Directors, senior Directors and Partners across the firm involved in the investment cycle and must have the strategic thinking and gravitas to be able to influence at the highest levels of the company.
The Global IT Sourcing Director will also be responsible for ensuring that the Supplier Governance programme for IT is implemented effectively. Supplier risk within the IT environment is a high focus area and many of our global suppliers are considered high risk for BCG, therefore significant time will be required to develop strong SRM programmes that manage IT Supplier risk throughout the procurement lifecycle.
The Global IT Sourcing Director will be a part of the Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) responsible for leading and shaping the Procurement function at BCG. This team will be jointly responsible for all aspects of people management including performance management, skill development, resource planning etc.

• Provide strategic procurement direction across functional areas and programs that involve strategic sourcing and supplier management.
• Lead process of developing IT procurement management strategy, identifying, sourcing and securing resources based on business requirements/results.
• Synthesis the supply base and establish strong partnership relationships with critical suppliers and business stakeholders.
As the Global IT Sourcing Director, you will bring world-class sophistication to our procurement activities on a consistent basis.
• Lead a team of sourcing category managers to develop and implement sourcing strategies
• Partner with senior stakeholders to increase influence of procurement across the globe.
• Be the central point of contact for guidance, support, and training on all IT procurement matters. Ensure compliance of the spirit and letter of the procurement policy, across the region through continuous monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
• Assist IT in developing and maintaining an approved suppliers list and supplier governance programme. This will involve training staff on how to complete due diligent checks, establishing governance schedules with suppliers and meeting suppliers from time to time.
• Responsible for embedding new operational procurement processes within the region to improve spend visibility and increase control of our cost base.
• Overseeing tendering and negotiation activity in the specification of requirements, requests for proposals, evaluation and supplier appointment. Through deep analysis actively find opportunities, develop strategy and category plans that deliver significant value, implement and drive those through, guiding and managing stakeholders along the way
• Support and provide input to the Sourcing Center of Excellence (COE) in the implementation of purchasing processes, structures and supporting tools
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 15+ years of experience in IT procurement and IT contracts
• Minimum of a BS; MBA / Master’s degree a plus
• Experience working in a global organization is preferred
• 10+ years of managing IT Procurement teams
• Experience of both Strategic and Operational Procurement implementation
• Experience of managing SRM programmes and managing supplier risk
