The Warehouse Supervisor, under the direction of the Warehouse Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills while supervising staff in the department.
Your day-to-day Responsibilities
Supervise a team of warehouse employees, including employee relations, delegation, training and performance evaluation
Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
Maintain shift schedules to ensure sufficient employee coverage
Schedule, authorize and approve time off requests and assist in ensuring that timecards are completed accurately
Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations
Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback and coaching, participate in formal evaluations
Prepare reports for employees relating to performance metrics and provide any relevant information to Warehouse Manager
Manage, schedule and monitor any equipment needs and/or repairs as required
Monitor and maintain service levels
Ensure that safe work practices are being followed and that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations
Ensure that all staff are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment
Ensure safety in the warehouse by determining any training needs and requirements.
Take into account full implications of freight turnover, size, weight, and other factors when allocating warehouse space
Monitor receiving to ensure that standards are being met
Organize and schedule deliveries between plants (local and satellite) ensuring work orders are completed on a timely basis
Coordinate with internal departments on variances in workload to share and utilize staff as appropriate.
Assist in implementation of risk management plans ie. Staffing, volume
Complete understanding of all job functions in the Warehouse and able to cover for any position as needed
Analyze departmental operations and identify areas requiring improvement
Ensure that strategic performance metrics, targets and goals are met
Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and hazardous materials
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
One to three years of experience in a supervisory role in a warehouse setting
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
Strong formal and informal leadership skills
Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
Hours of Work (permanent shift – not rotating)
Days – Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
