Reports To: Senior HR Manager
Site Location: BorgWarner Ltd, Roydsdale Way, Euroway Industrial Estate, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD4 6SE (refer to T&C’s for location description and travel requirements)
Hours: 40 Hours (hours may vary as required for the business)
Days of Work: Monday to Friday, some weekend and Bank Holiday work may be required. Hybrid working – up to 2 days working from home per week.
Overall Purpose: To provide generalist HR support to specified functions within the business, covering all aspects of HR.
Job Dimensions:
Scope of position is defined by basic problem solving and the relation to the overall assignment or project. Work is generally not supervised in detail. Review of work is conducted at interim points regarding accuracy, subject matter knowledge and decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for the overall HR support and performance of two or more areas of the business.
2. Demonstrates advanced-level knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in one or more functional areas such as recruitment, employee and/or employee relations, compensation and benefits, organizational development and learning and development. Is responsible for the continuous improvement and implementation of best practice within functional areas.
3. Ensuring the best talent is recruited into roles at all levels in areas of responsibility.
4. Responsibility for the vacancy management and selection of candidates, working with partners where necessary.
5. Creates environment to support the ongoing development of internal talent by effective onboarding, identifying training needs, designing and conducting training programs and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs that support the organization’s need for developing the knowledge and capabilities of internal talent.
6. Ensure succession plans are in place for key positions.
7. Diagnoses organizational development needs, implements effective solutions, and builds effective teams.
8. Support managers in making their teams accountable for individual and departmental performance. Work with managers to ensure SMART personal and performance objectives are agreed, performance is measured objectively and underperformance is addressed.
9. Training Needs Analysis is carried out and fed into the training budget. Design training course content. Manage external providers. Carry out practical, skills based training where appropriate to upskill managers in Human Resource Management.
10. Lead on employee relations issues including disciplinary and grievance management. Responding to employee queries in area of responsibility.
11. Support managers in living the beliefs and values of BorgWarner to promote a positive culture.
12. Provides strategic HR consultation to optimize people, structure, process and culture with the goal of achieving business results.
13. Ensure consistency of decision making in line with local laws, policies and procedures.
14. Recommends, communicates and implements new approaches, policies, practices, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department, services performed and resolution of problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with regulations or government law.
15. Handle employee welfare issues using appropriate services such as occupational health, EAP and mental health first aiders.
16. Leads salary administration, benefits projects, special group projects and other generalist duties as required.
17. Leads strategic and culture change projects
18. Provides back up support for the Payroll process, if required.
19. Production of HR and Management reports.
Knowledge & Experience:External:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
2. 3-5 years of related experience.
3. CIPD Level 5 (qualified or working towards).
Working Environment:
Comfortable air-conditioned office with some work in a controlled factory environment, with some Health & Safety risks.
Other Duties Required:
Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
