Borealis Basecamp Hiring for Activities Manager at Fairbanks, Alaska Full Time

We offer overnight accommodations, snowmachine tours, dogsledding tours, reindeer tours, fine dining, and more to our guests. Activities Manager Duties: Facilitating all aspects of Borealis Basecamp activities program. This includes: 

• Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training staff members
• Coaching, counselling, and providing corrective action to staff
• Creating a friendly, welcoming, customer-service driven environment for guests and staff members
• Communicating with other department heads, including reservations managers, Chef Easter, operations managers/ general managers, and Borealis Basecamp owners
• Managing availability, resource allocation, and staff allocation of all tours in reservations software
• Thinking creatively to solve problems that invariably arise with logistics, tour coordination, large group booking, rescheduling, and customer service issues
• Ensuring facility and equipment upkeep and maintenance on Borealis Basecamp activity center and all Borealis Basecamp snowmachines, ATVs, RAZrs, snowcoaches, etc.
• Developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards
• Defining department objectives, identifying and evaluating trends and options, choosing a course of action, and evaluating outcomes
• Accomplishing financial objectives by forecasting requirements, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
• Maintaining quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, and recommending system improvements
• Upholding and monitoring all safety policies on all tours
• Inventorying and maintaining proper stock levels of all activities fuels, medical supplies, and department consumables
• Upkeeping of activities department administrative and financial records
• Working alongside partners to offer 3rd party tours, maintain accurate availability, and coordinate departures

Job Requirements: 

• Demonstrated leadership and prior management experience (2 years experience preferred)
• Strong customer service orientation 
• Strong oral and communication skills
• Proficient computer skills with programs including but not limited to: Excel, Word, and Teams
• Ability to work under stress and pressure
• Clean driving record
• Ability to work on feet for up to 10 hours a day
• Flexibility with scheduling
• Ability to grow and maintain a positive team
• Ability to maintain and project a positive attitude in all weather conditions
• Ability and willingness to coordinate and assist in day to day operations, including but not limited to guiding tours, assisting with trail maintenance, and other tasks
• First aid and CPR certified
• Willingness to adapt and learn
• High school diploma or GED 
• Ability to lift, rotate, and place 50 llbs
• Ability to negotiate uneven terrain in low light
