Bore Place is a 500-acre organic farm estate in West Kent providing a unique venue with sustainability at its

heart. It is home to a charity delivering programmes for young people, public, private events and courses, as

well as a home for rural businesses which match our values and ethos. Our education centre delivers

schools programmes and events about food, farming and nature. Sustainability is at the heart of everything

Internship opportunity

Bore Place is committed to providing an internship programme which fits the graduate/student’s interests

and needs. Working across the organisation and closely with the Education Team and CEO, this is an

opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills by working in a team responsible for

developing and delivering programmes contributing to creating an environmentally engaged and responsible

society.

The role will enable you to gain the mix of experience and skills involved in running an environmental

education centre, developing programmes and events, as well as delivering programmes. It will involve:


a mix of desk-based research, planning and budgeting to develop our existing events and create a

programme of new engaging events for a wide range of visitors.


hands-on delivery including some independent leading of volunteer task groups and school visits,

walks and other events.


supporting the wider education and events team by keeping the facilities clean, preparing resources

and food, taking responsibility for stock and materials and supporting the development of resources

as required.


helping to maintain the garden spaces, an important learning resource used by visiting schools, so a

keen interest in growing (especially vegetables), habitats and wildlife will be very useful.

Bore Place is committed to increasing the number of people it engages with over the next 3 years and this

role will contribute to helping to achieve this. You will also spend time with our CEO learning the inside

workings of an organisation committed to inspiring people of all ages to connect with nature and the

countryside, food, farming and sustainability, and developing its own practices to demonstrate best in class

environmental management

We will work with the right candidate to develop a bespoke programme of work around their interests and

provide support and guidance at the end of the internship to assist them with securing their next role.
