General Ledger Accountant

Job Description

Bolinger and Queen is a growing irrigation, water service and on-site wastewater materials distributor on the Western Slope of Colorado. Reporting directly to the President and Vice-President of the company, you will be responsible for all of the daily, monthly and yearly accounting activities and financial reporting through an existing point-of-sale/accounting software system. Position pays $40,000 – $100,000 per year based on experience/value brought to the company.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Daily management of cash flow and associated GL entries that includes multiple checking, credit card, money market and line of credit accounts.
• Daily, weekly and monthly overhead expense entries and payment.
• Inventory AP check runs to vendors as needed.
• Bi-weekly payroll processing and reporting.
• Closing processes to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Monthly bank reconciliation.
• Monthly sales tax reconciliation, reporting and payment.
• Quarterly estimated tax payments and yearly financial and tax coordination with CPA.

Skills and qualifications required:

• 2 years experience in accounting, preferably with electronic POS/accounting software outside of QuickBooks.
• Problem solving skills- ability to analyze data, search for inconsistencies then reconcile inconsistencies and implement solutions to errors.
• Knowledge of accounting and tax rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple responsibilities.
• Detailed and accurate with numbers and data entry.
