Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing logs, standing timber and pulp wood chips from government, private or other agencies to ensure a stable supply of logs, stumpage and raw material to meet manufacturing objectives and region operating goals. Sells excess and non-usable/non-profitable logs to external customers. Responsible for implementing the Company’s policies, procedures, and management actions to ensure compliance with Sustainable Forestry Management, third party certification programs (SFI, FSC, & PEFC) and Chain-of-Custody system certification requirements. Responsible for the communication of the Company’s SFI commitment and promotion of the practice of sustainable forestry to employees, wood producers, and suppliers.
Essential Functions
Basic Qualifications:
Prefer degree in forestry management or related field with timber acquisition experience. Demonstrated knowledge of logging, milling, appraisal contracts and forestry operations. Regional and/or local knowledge of timber resources and contracts (government, private, etc.) is essential. Also requires two to three years timber cruising plus two to three years logging and/or contract administration. Effective interpersonal, analytical, and planning and organization skills. Must understand responsibilities for environmental compliance and management.
Requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
Salary will be dependent on experience.
