The Opportunity

We are now recruiting internally for the position of Software Engineer to work on and extend the Integrated Deployed Communication Management product line based in our Brisbane office. If you are currently a Software Engineer with a background in complex systems and software integration with extensive experience in deployed communications systems wanting to be part of a dynamic team, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, development, verification and delivery of software products to meet system requirements within an Agile Software and Systems Engineering framework.

This role involves the following key responsibilities:

• Developing and reviewing system and software requirements for new or modified capability.
• Developing, documenting and reviewing system and software designs.
• Implementing, verifying and reviewing system and software components.

Experience/Qualifications

BDA requires all applicants to demonstrate the following:

• Tertiary degree qualifications in a relevant technical discipline.
• System and software development experience.
• Demonstrable experience in the design, development, verification and/or release of large-scale software systems across a number of Defence projects.
• Ability to identify and implement robust process improvements and tools.
• In depth knowledge of the Currawong Mission System Manager.
• Strong understanding of the ADF Communications Mission Planning Process.
• Strong knowledge of the Python programming language.
• Knowledge of the JavaScript programming language.
• Knowledge of the Atlassian tool suite.
• Experience in a number of the following:
• Satellite systems.
• Wide Band RF and radio links.
• Large geographical dispersed communication systems.
• Distributed authorisation and authentication.
• The planning, monitoring and control of deployable networking systems and hardware.
• Software Development Environments.
• User Experience Design methodologies.
• Familiar with secure programming practices.
• Development experience in a Linux environment.
