Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Senior Software Application Developer reporting the Manager of Software Development. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office; however a hybrid work style is offered, allowing the candidate to work both virtually and in the office.

The Senior Software Application Developer will be a mentor to newer team members. This developer brings a new perspective to solutions and is able to provide efficient quality code. This individual is seen by others on the team as a knowledgeable team member who can be approached to solve complex problems.

Position Responsibilities:
Participate in the design and implementation of complex, business critical features of the system

Ensure that the software you build aligns to architectural guidance and the team’s agreed upon code best practices

Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure that the software meets the business requirements

Work closely with test engineers to ensure software deliverables are of the highest quality

Work closely with Scrum Masters to organize the work

Actively contribute to the process of continual improvement, with regard to self, team, processes and systems

Leverage your technical expertise and experience and be a sounding board for fellow developers for problem resolution

Mentor and develop newer members of the team

Provide implementation support

Responsible for release branching and merging

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

5+ years relevant experience in Software Development

Proficient in at Java and Python

Experience with Front End web development such as Angular 2+

Fundamental knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns

Must be legally able to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Post-secondary education is related field

Experience developing for cloud architectures such as Azure, GCP or AWS

Experience building REST APIs and using messaging services

Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data

Experience in SQL + (practical experience with one of the relational databases like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Experience in back end software development using mainstream technologies such as Python, Java, Node.js, .NET

Strong understanding of Agile practices and processes (Scrum)

Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience, 13 years’ related work experience, etc.).
