Project description
As an industry sponsored PhD program, we aim to achieve not only academic excellence, but also significant advances to real-world products, for example, to extend manufacturing systems and modelling to include real-time evaluations, via computer vision, machine learning and wearable devices, with co-botics and novel automation systems to make a step change in workplace safety, quality, performance and health measurement, design, and operations.
These projects also envision networked-enabled people-robot-material-centric frameworks, in which machine, material, and human dexterity and kinematics, injury risk, and job sequencing between workers and machines are considered holistically and in a combined digital twin.
To achieve this vision, an interdisciplinary approach will be required combining research threads in:
The successful candidates will work in an industry/academic team and also individually to architect, develop and physically prototype a holistic system for industry use.
