The Opportunity
Boeing Phantom Works – International (PW-I) is seeking a candidate for the role of Principal Software Engineer to join a new and exciting project. You will work within a growing Project Team across interdisciplinary groups developing exciting new technologies to support and grow Australia’s defence capability. This will range from early concept definition, working hand-in-hand with Operational Analysts and customers, through to developing final software solutions.
You will be a member of Phantom Works – International, a 100+ strong rapid prototyping organisation in the heart of Brisbane, and will be working on cutting edge technology in the domain of autonomy. Responsibilities
Working in the role you will have the opportunity to:
- Strong knowledge of modern C++ principles and practice (C++11 / 14 is mandatory) and C++ frameworks (eg Qt, Boost)
- Good software development skills in other languages including C#, Python
- Experience in software requirements analysis, functional analysis, software design & development, and software integration & test
- Ability to adapt quickly to change, support the development of technical plans, documents and able to provide high level guidance to the software team
- Experience with an RTOS
- Ability to communicate complex software concepts in both written and verbal formats to management as well as the technical team
- Lead, coach, mentor and motivate a dedicated team that is focused on delivering new capability to our customer
- Significant experience using both Linux and Windows operating systems
- Experience in participating in software development cycles using agile methods and processes
- Lead software and systems integration with exposure to any of:
- Avionics
- Electronics and Communications
- Radar and sensor systems
- Tactical Data Links
- MIL-STD-1553
- Industry specific simulation tools
- Support Verification & Validation and testing activities
Experience/Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years’ experience within software engineering teams is required for the role. We’d also love if you have prior experience in the Defence industry where you gained familiarity with any of the above technologies. In addition to the tasks described above, you will be required to work cooperatively within the larger PW-I Team.
The ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way is valued by our team.
