As a simulation software Project Engineer (PE), you will lead and support a wide variety of projects and activities within the Flight Simulation Software Laboratories (FSSL) organization. FSSL provides simulation software tools & infrastructure, airplane system simulation models, and operates and maintains many labs and hardware systems used to test all Boeing commercial airplane avionics systems as well as commercial derivative airplanes used by our defense division.

Position Responsibilities:
This is a technical project management role focused on the development, integration, and use of the Integrated Airplane Configuration (IAC) simulation software, flight deck eCabs, and lab test benches.
Working closely with technical experts to plan, estimate, and baseline incoming work packages from a variety sources (BCA is our primary customer but we have many others).
Planning, scheduling, monitoring and tracking status of assigned project(s).
Monitoring financial data (forecast and actual spending) and project schedules.
Prioritizing changes to simulation software based on customer needs and modeler workload.
Scheduling lockdown and release dates for all of our simulation products.
Providing risk management practices to define risks, assist engineers to find solutions, provide workarounds, remove impediments, and mitigate emergent issues.
Leading multi-faceted teams to ensure the IAC meets all stakeholder requirements.
Be the primary interface with requirements’ stakeholders.
Supporting modelers and other simulation software engineers with issues and impediments.
Reporting to management and customers on task progress. For some projects, you will provide earned value-style metrics; for others you will participate on Scrum or Kanban teams.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience in all phases of a software development lifecycle (requirement development, system architecture, software design, software testing, maintenance)
Experience managing or leading projects
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Airplane Systems design and modeling familiarity for one or more Boeing commercial airplane models
Experience managing multiple technical projects concurrently and across multiple organizations
Working knowledge of Atlassian JIRA tracking tools
Experience of real time simulation concepts and processes and documentation
Experience of software release and build processes including GIT configuration control system
Experience in real time avionics flight software using C++ or other modern language
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
