Boeing Defense Space and Security is currently looking for a Lead Stage Propulsion/Pyrotechnic Engineer to join their team in Huntsville, AL . This position will focus on design, development and integration of the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) Pyrotechnic Subsystem which includes Separation and Pyrotechnic Flight Termination functions.

Position Responsibilities:
Lead team of component engineers, technical lead engineers, analysts, and design integrators in successul development of rocket propulsion systems

Gather and define system level requirements for Rocket Propulsion (RP) and Pyrotechnic Subsystems

Oversee the design & analysis of Rocket Propulsion (RP) and pyrotechnic systems and components through all phases of development

Oversee design reviews, analyses, simulations, and component / system testing to ensure delivery of RP products that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations

Support Component Engineers and Technical Lead Engineers (TLEs) in Supplier Technical Oversight activites

Coordinate with External Stakeholders including NASA and Range Safety

Work under general supervision

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

3+ years of experience with Rocket Propulsion

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience with Rocket Propulsion

Experience in pyrotechnic systems or component development

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Summary pay range: $113,900 – $154,100
