Boeing’s Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Entry Level ADaPS Software Engineer Realtime capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification).

The candidates will develop software for real-time command and control of distributed missile defense assets. Successful candidates may also participate in simulation of missile defense concepts, and analysis of their capabilities. Candidates will use software technologies including real-time operating systems, containerized applications, implementation of advanced guidance or search algorithms, multi-tasking and multi-threading, software redundancy, and software certification. Technologies used include Git repositories, C++, Java, DDS middleware, Python, and XML.

Position Responsibilities:
This entry level software development position will perform all work under close supervision to include but not limited to:

Assist with the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

Develop and maintains code and integrate software components into a fully functional software system

Assist with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met

Gather information to support software project management

Document deployed processes and tools and collect metrics

Support software research and development projects

Troubleshoot basic software issues

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry

Programming experience our coursework in at least one or more of the following languages: Git, C++, Java, DDS middleware, Python, and XML.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
US security clearance

Experience using common software version control tools such as Git

Academic project or intern/coop experience with realtime development for control systems, or high complexity development of web applications

Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations

A positive attitude towards learning, software quality, and teamwork

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
