We are looking for a Financial Accountant

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Team at BMT. Reporting to the Finance Manager, UK Central Region, this role will be Teddington/Home-based with travel to other BMT offices as required. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract position at 30 hours per week. Salary will be based on experience.

About the role

The Financial Accountant works as part of a small team of accountants to support the Finance Manager of the UK Central region. The Finance Accountant will work alongside another Financial Accountant to prepare and deliver the monthly management reporting pack. The Financial Accountant will support the Finance Manager in delivering a Finance partnering service to Senior stakeholders in the group for the centralised budgets.

The Financial Accountant will play a key role in the year end audit, responsible for preparing the Financial statements for the legal entities as well as the audit deliverables pack. Involvement in the annual budget process will be another key responsibility of this position. The small team of Financial Accountants will work closely together ensuring that all day to day transactions are covered during holidays, sick leave and busy periods.

What are we looking for?

The successful individual will have:

• Experience working for relevant consulting or service based businesses
• Have significant experience in finance, specifically:
  • Financial accounting:
    • Cash management, reconciliations and forecasting.
    • VAT return preparation, EC sales list, National statistics for the Legal entity.
    • Consolidation and submission of the Group VAT return
    • Period end accounting to Trial balance including balance sheet reconciliations
    • Raising of intercompany invoices, agreeing intercompany balances/ transactions with counterparty
    • Preparation of year end packs/ statutory accounts and audit deliverables for the legal entity
    • Preparation and submission of the PSA
  • Management accounting:
    • Reporting on actual vs budget variances to department stakeholders
    • Reporting and forecasting Headcount and associated Labour with links into the Payroll team
    • Support and provide knowledge and financial input to allow the Finance Business Partners to provide ‘value add’ to the operating unit MDs and operations teams.
    • Reporting on central projects
    • Assist the FM with delivering and planning a robust 5 year budget
  • Governance and process:
    • Point of contact for auditors/ other stakeholders with regards to this operating unit
    • Cover for the other Financial Accountants as needed during holidays, sick leave and busy periods.

• • • Assist the Finance Manager in change initiatives
    • Writing of accounting papers and assistance in the annual update of BMT group processes.
• A degree-level education and be a qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication in all its forms
• Emotional intelligence with well developed diplomacy, tact, influencing and negotiating skills
