BMC Recruitment are on the lookout for our client based in the North East, we are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager for a construction business.
  
main purpose of the role is to identify, analyze and mitigate all geotechnical hazards affecting Engineering works at Pre-Construction Stage through to the prior delivery of all Construction projects. 
A specialism in Geotechnical, Civil and Structural engineering and an understanding of the bidding process and the key deliverables throughout this process will be of advantage along with knowledge of the relevant building regulations/legislations.
In addition to the above you will be responsible for overseeing the Environmental compliance strategies to promote sustainable development, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy. Responsible for managing internal engineering resource
  
Land Appraisal

• Analysing potential strategic development sites
• Pre-Site visit and produce Engineering overview of the site.
• Provide input into feasibility layout designs.
• Procure Site Investigation Information review and interoperate.
• Provide provisional assessment of abnormal design requirements.
• Collate data and produce reports
• Oversee the progress of specific contracts
• Supervise site and ground investigations
• Visit new project sites and advise on quality and compliance.

  
Planning & Design

• Agree appointments and scope of service for Design Team
• Manage Engineering Pre-Com information inc. Tender Reviews, GI/SI procurement and completion, Soil Management solutions, Cut and Fill, Remediation Strategies, Drainage and Infrastructure and Site Constraints.
• Obtain fee quotations from specialist consultants for all engineering design and technical report requirements.
• Manage external consultants to compile Foundation Solutions, Drainage Strategies & Retaining Structures to allow competitive pricing to be sourced.
• Pre-Com produce and manage IRS Deadlines
• Be responsible for the production of design solutions and associated drawings covering a range of project requirements.
• Highlight and manage project constraints such as section agreements prior to obtaining Technical Approval, mains utility services diversions and potential of unknown services etc.
• Working with engineers of other disciplines to produce integrated geotechnical assessments into the overall project delivery.
• Challenge / Vet Consultants designs
• With help from the Document Controller, ensure that all design, surveys and reports are uploaded and distributed via drawing distribution system to all relevant parties
• Liaise with Local Authority to agree Remediation & Validation requirements.
• Obtain all required technical approvals in line with programmed site start dates.
• Manage Engineering Design, Sign off and Freeze solution at start on site.
• Handover to Coordinator at Start on Site
• Attend site visits and meetings in order to solve issues that arise during the constructions process
• Supporting/mentor and upskill members of the team.
