Our client is looking for a talented Finance Manager to support the strategic operations of their business and provide financial reporting and analysis. The successful candidate will manage the Company’s finances promoting growth, efficiency and ensuring the business is sustainable.

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to business success and is interested in working flexible, part time hours as part of a small support team. Salary will be pro rata to hours worked. This role can be performed from home with some face to face meetings in the Ipswich area.

The role

This is a key role providing support to the business owner and contributing as part of the management team to the overall direction of the business. Duties will include:

• Contributing to business planning to ensure financial growth and sustainability;
• Working with Management Team and Business Owner to produce financial information;
• Supporting Business Owner in identifying new income streams;
• Preparing, analysing and presenting financial management information to Business Owner and management team;
• Monitoring business performance;
• Reviewing financial management systems consistent with business needs and implement changes;
• Monitoring cashflow and prepare cashflow forecasts;
• Completing annual returns and VAT and PAYE returns;
• Preparing monthly accounts, financial forecasting and budgetary management information;
• Carrying out monthly bank, payroll and petty cash reconciliations;
• Overseeing the purchase and sales ledger posting;
• Ensuring adequate financial controls and governance structures are in place and reviewed regularly;
• Providing financial support when completing tender applications;
• Maintaining records to meet legal and tax requirements and measure both inputs and outputs of the company’s operations;
• Managing a small support team.

The person

You will be an accountant either professionally qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience who has previous experience of managing accounts in or for an SME. In addition, you will have:

• Experience of preparing, analysing and presenting forecasting and financial management information;
• Ability to think strategically and forward plan;
• High level of computer literacy including accounting packages;
• Highly effective communication skills;
• Ability to explain technical financial information clearly;
• Sound commercial awareness and understanding of financial challenges for small businesses;
• Ability to be self-reliant and work productively with little support;
• Effective people management skills and prior experience of managing a small team;
• Experience of completing VAT and PAYE returns.
• Experience of preparing statutory accounts.
• Experience of preparing bids and tenders for services.

Part-time hours: 15 – 20 per week
