Principal

Excellent opportunity to lead non-public, special education school for students (grades 4-12) with autism, learning, emotional and other disabilities.

• Location: Belcamp, Maryland
• Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 annually
• Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30am-4pm
• Calendar: 12-month school calendar

The overall responsibility of the Principal is to manage the operation of the private day school, ensure that the school program is in compliance with all standards of the state of Maryland and local school jurisdictions within the state, and to ensure that all students enrolled in the school program receive the appropriate educational services.

• Oversee all facility members, school management, and staff; serves as liaison to other departments within the agency; participates as a member of the administrative management team.
• Conduct evaluations of the education staff annually.
• Provide instruction and guidance to faculty in the implementation of students Individual Education Plans (IEP’s); chairs IEP conferences.
• Responsible for design and implementation of training programs for school staff.
• Assist the faculty to consistently utilize behavior management techniques that promote a smooth functioning classroom; instruct faculty in the use of the behavior management program.
• Represent the school and agency at meetings and conferences.
• Act as an educational consultant to school regarding any facet of a student’s educational progress, consults to the treatment teams on any facet of a student’s educational needs.
• Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, rules, and policies, as established by MSDE with focus on maintaining effective program strategies to improve school climate.
• Develop and administer the operating budget of the school, and identify, prioritize, and approve purchases for the school
• Establish and maintain supportive working relationships within both the agency/school and the broader community services network.
• Demonstrates understanding of MSDE policies and regulations governing special education and the ability to operate the facility education programs accordingly.

Requirements:

• APC / General Special Education 6-Adult
• Admin I/II preferred, but not required
• Special education administrative/supervisory experience
• 3+ years of teaching experience (at least one in special education)
• MSDE knowledge and IEP management
