Royalties Assistant, Finance (12-Month FTC)

The opportunity

The Bloomsbury Royalties Department is responsible for preparing royalty statements and making advance and royalty payments to Bloomsbury’s authors around the world.

Bloomsbury has recently acquired the assets of a mid-size publishing house. The Royalties Assistant role is a temporary role created to assist with the migration of royalty contract data resulting from the acquisition, into Bloomsbury’s royalty system. The role will report directly into the Royalties Manager but will also involve interaction with stakeholders from other areas of the business.

Whilst prior publishing royalties experience would be desirable, this role might equally suit a numerate graduate who is keen to get some publishing experience, has good attention to detail and who can learn about royalties quickly.

The role

• Mapping of data extracted from outgoing royalty system
• Reviewing author contracts to extract supplemental royalties information
• Preparation of data for loading to host royalty system
• Perform parallel royalty run
• Investigate and solve issues arising from parallel run
• Preparation of author and other details for loading to accounting system
• Data cleansing
• Ad-hoc tasks as and when required

Knowledge, skills and experience

• · Strong excel skills – pivots, v-look-ups, etc.
• · Numeracy, speed and accuracy
• · Good communication and organisational skills
• · Familiarity with royalty and/or accounting systems
• · Royalties experience – ideally in trade publishing
• · Understanding of double entry book-keeping and general accounting desirable

Additional information

The role is a full-time 12-month temporary position

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based. Allocated office days for this role are Mondays & Tuesdays
