Job summary:
The Quality Laboratory Technician is required to adhere to all aspects of quality assurance and quality control programs for the Campbellford facility. This “hands on” role requires verification that quality standards are met by conducting appropriate testing methods and procedures. The Quality Laboratory Technician is required to perform these duties in a safe and responsible manner while following all of Blommer Chocolate Companies policies.

Ensure that all of the requirements as set forth in the Quality Assurance/Control Programs in conjunction with adherence to the safe manufacture of food
Comply with (and play a leadership role with respect to) all requirements of the Ontario Health and Safety Act & Regulations and Blommer Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Maintain a thorough understanding of each production process and products including components and functions
Providing good customer service with regards to general product inquires; certificates of analysis, and all standard regulatory documents.
Provide guidance on interpretation of Quality assurance and control programs.
Monitor key programs
Understand the critical success factors of each process and be able to diagnose and solve critical and chronic problems using root cause analysis
Maintain and evaluate operation of all laboratory equipment and spare parts inventories
Validate product through instrumentation testing & physical testing of raw materials, in process material and finished goods as well as use of outside laboratories.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all incoming materials, daily test results and all out going shipments.
Establish effective vendor relationships with outside laboratories and maintain appropriate service/ maintenance agreements on all lab equipment
Always foster strong relationships between lab and other departments utilizing a team/ customer based approach
Ensure effective written and oral communication within the lab team and user department.
Document standard work instructions for routine and repetitive tasks
Maintain key performance indicators (KPI)
Ensure all duties are performed in a timely and satisfactory manner
Provide training on Quality programs to employees.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years of lab experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
A 2-year diploma in Food Science or Chemistry/Microbiology or equivalent.
Knowledge of food safety programs such as GMP’s and HACCP is required.
Above average computer, communication, presentation, and organization skills are mandatory.
Hands on, goal orientation individual with high level of enthusiasm, drive, and character. Ability to multi-task, detail oriented and organized.
Strong value system, demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. Excellent problem-solving skills to frame solutions to complex issues through teamwork and cooperation across all functional areas.
Self-motivated, hardworking, and confident with both technical, business, and human resource skills.
