POSITION GOAL: The Life Enrichment Coordinator plans, develops and implements whole person wellness based lifestyle opportunities for the residents of independent living which will enhance their quality of life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Life Enrichment Coordinator:
¨ Plans, develops and implements lifestyle opportunities, including group programs, lifelong learning, group outings, entertainment, social events.
¨ WellLife at Blakeford is Blakeford’s approach and answer to offering a lifestyle built on successful aging through a variety of Wellness and Life Enrichment opportunities all designed to enhance the quality of life of older adults.
¨ Works with the Life Enrichment department to plan, develop and implement lifestyle opportunities that fulfill the mission and vision of WellLife at Blakeford:
Enriching lives every day through engaging and wellness-centered lifestyle opportunities.
Life Enrichment’s primary focus is on the following elements:
o Connect (Social and Volunteer Opportunities)
o Enlighten (Intellectual)
Life Enrichment offers their support in the creation and implementation of the following elements:
o Inspire (Spiritual and Emotional)- Spiritual Care Department
o Thrive (Physical)- Wellness Department
¨ Plans monthly calendars that include programs and events that meet the various interests and needs of the residents.
¨ Provides transportation for outings to residents in either a sedan vehicle or a 12 passenger, wheelchair accessible van (no special license necessary), in a safe manner, obeying traffic laws at all times.
¨ Manages the procurement, care and maintenance of supplies and equipment and works within budget guidelines.
¨ Works closely with the Wellness Coordinator, who is responsible for the physical wellness opportunities at the community.
¨ Responds to or reports to the Life Enrichment Department Supervisor any resident concerns and suggestions.
¨ Interacts with co-workers, residents, families, guests, vendors, and all other stakeholders in a manner which encourages harmonious working relationships, enhances the image and reputation of the facility, and promotes positive customer relations and hospitality.
¨ Supports the facility’s mission statement by dependability in attendance, proper attire, respectfulness, punctuality, maintaining confidentiality, the timely completion of assignments, and attention to principles of professional ethics and quality service.
¨ Has a commitment to professional and personal growth through development of skills and knowledge, as well as improvement in the facility’s performance.
¨ Ensures the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all residents is maintained.
SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP:
Receives general guidance with respect to overall objectives from the Life Enrichment Department Supervisor; work is usually quite independent of others; operates within departmental policy guidelines using independent judgement in achieving objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in the senior living, hospitality, or events fields is beneficial.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB:
¨ Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or State Certified Activities Director (ADC). If candidate does not currently have this certification upon hire they will be sent to the next scheduled seminar to obtain it.
¨ Must be 25+ years of age and have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (Blakeford’s insurance company will evaluate records).
¨ TDOT health certification for operating passenger vehicles. If candidate does not currently have this certification upon hire they will be required to complete it.
¨ F Endorsement on driver’s license. If candidate does not currently have this certification upon hire they will be required to complete it.
SKILLS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISH THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB: Must have a passion to work with senior adults, creative, energetic, vision and goal-oriented, organized, a team player, self-motivated, and has an understanding and commitment to the mission and vision of WellLife at Blakeford. Must be able to operate a 12+ passenger bus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of residents or employees of the organization and lead resident groups and programs effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and interest.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS: Intermediate computer skills, including e-mail, routine database activity, word processing, spread sheet, and graphics, and calendar and announcement creation software.
SCHEDULE: Although the majority of lifestyle opportunities take place Monday through Friday, the coordinator must be willing and able to adjust to the schedule that is most appropriate for executing successful program/event and to meet the residents’ needs.
