The Role
The Finance Officer position is pivotal in providing support our large research team. Partnering closely with the Research Finance Business Partner, the role ensures that research projects stay on track, provide support to stakeholders both internal and external to ensure continued success for the Black Dog Institute. As our research portfolio grows, this contract has the potential extend beyond 6 months and increase in FTE.

Duties

• Track payments, expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, and statements related to relevant research portfolios
• Assist in the grant acquittal and reporting processes
• Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
• Maintain historical electronic records according to BDI processes
• Prepare analysis of accounts and produce monthly reports, and contribute to the monthly financial accounting processes including processing of accruals and prepayments

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in an accounts receivable, accounts payable, or finance officer position
• Proven ability to effectively manage time, set priorities, and organize work in an efficient manner to achieve set objectives to agreed timelines
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to translate ideas, concepts, and information
• High levels of accuracy with a strong attention to detail
• Intermediate to advanced capability of Microsoft office products (particularly excel)
• Experience with adaptive insights/NetSuite (desirable not essential)
