Black Bear Crane Hiring for Crane Operator Full Time

Black Bear Crane is a family owned and operated crane and rigging company serving the state of Maine. We are seeking applications for certified crane operators to meet the growing needs of our customer base and expanding fleet. The qualified candidates will posses a great work ethic, positive attitude and be a team player.

Job is based out of our shop in Hermon with travel throughout the great state of Maine. Successful candidate(s) can expect to be home most nights unless job requirements dictate otherwise. All travel expenses will be paid by the company. We guarantee 40 hours per week with overtime during peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Safe operation of various types of cranes including, all terrain, rough terrain, hydraulic truck, carry deck and boom trucks.
• Drive crane to work site and properly sets up per the manufacturer’s and OSHA requirements.
• Operate crane safely and efficiently to perform required lift(s).
• Be able to read and interpret load charts and operators manual.
• Directs activities of riggers, truck drivers or helpers in setting up and tearing down the equipment.
• Maintain daily equipment documentation log. Perform inspections, routine maintenance and equipment cleanliness.
• Wears provided PPE safety equipment and abide by customer safety protocols.
• Be courteous with customers and help create solutions to problems that arise on jobs.
• Take complete charge of all safety pertaining to set up, teardown and operation of crane. Make judgement calls on operations of crane in unsafe situations.
• Understands and can properly fill out job ticket for customer to accept responsibility for jobsite and billing.
• Assist in driving weights, boom sections and other equipment to the jobsite and to assist in moving and transporting other cranes and equipment to jobsites.
• May be required to work independently with minimum supervision.
• May be required to assist in tasks around shop during slow periods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential:

• Hold a Class A CDL license in good standing and clean driving record.
• Knowledgeable in OSHA Regulations and ANSI standards in crane operations.
• Team player with positive attitude.
• Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test.
• Must possess a current NCCCO or equivalent crane operator certification with a minimum of 5 year experience in crane operations. Preferably in a taxi crane setting.

Work Environment The employee may be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the workplace is moderate.

Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
