Job Summary :

This position will to the Chief Technology Officer, as the engineer manager of the organization, your mindset is more than just writing code but also positioning teams to deliver excellence and to maintain a high performing team.

You possess the ability to articulate a long term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams running them.

You will lead on the frontier to explore new development tools as well as assess major architectural changes or implementations and greenlighting major changes.

You will build the tools, libraries and frameworks that our engineers will consume to develop compliant, secure, and scalable software.

Responsibilities :

• Collaborates and makes proposals across teams on their engineering work, and helps their team members make informed decisions in alignment with the team’s strategic plans.
• Exposes technology and organizational needs
• Teach, mentor, grow, and provide advice to other domain experts, individual contributors, across several teams in their sub-department.
• Play a central role in technical, business, and organizational contributions affecting the sub-department / department.
• Looks for innovation opportunities between several teams with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of large complexity and scope.
• Ensures that OKR level goals are aligned across several teams
• Guides conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams.
• Provides a point of escalation for teams facing complex technical challenges.
• Attain a measurable impact on the work of teams.
• Exposes the work of their teams and their business impact internally.
• Help identify potential new hires, advocate and support your engineers growth, skills and experience.
• Author project plans for epics
• Run agile project management processes
• Provide guidance and coaching to team members on technical contributions, product architecture, and other areas.
• Maintain empathy for the team by keeping awareness of engineering processes and practices. Examples might be : evaluating individual workflow during one on ones, conducting code reviews, or working on non-critical path bugs and / or features.
• Responsible for executing team performance evaluations and goal setting at team and individual level.
• Foster technical decision making on the team, but make final decisions when necessary
• Draft quarterly OKRs and Engineering KPIs
• Improve product quality, security, and performance

Required Technical Experience :

• Proficient in designing, building, scaling and maintaining production services.
• Deep understanding of service oriented architecture.
• 5+ years of production experience in one of these languages : Python, C#, Javascript
• 2 years or more experience in a leadership role with current technical experience
• Exquisite brokering skills : regularly achieve consensus amongst departments
• In-depth technical experience in at least one of the core languages, frameworks, or technologies used by your team
• 5+ years of production experience with relational database technologies.
• 5+ years of experience testing code, unit tests, and integration tests.
• 3+ years of experience with microservices infrastructure.
• 3+ years of experience using version control (Git).
• 2+ years of experience with broker / messaging queue services.
• Experience creating architecture design models and diagrams.
• Experience working with container orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent).
• Experience working with CI / CD or build configuration (Github Actions, CircleCI).

Additional Required Skills :

• Ability to estimate, balance, and adhere to timelines.
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.
• Positive and solution-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and / or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions.
• Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems.
• Comfortable working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process.
• Effective communication skills : Regularly achieve consensus with peers, and clear status updates.
• An inclination towards communication, inclusion, and visibility.
• Experience owning a project from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution.
• Self-motivated and self-managing, with excellent organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with other parts of the organization.
• Share our values, and work in accordance with those values.
• Propensity to learn quickly and be willing to learn.
• Flexible and adaptable to a fast changing environment.
• A clear understanding of cryptocurrency.
