We now have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Secondary, Post-Compulsory Education and Training, and Adult Education for an inspirational, enthusiastic and highly experienced teacher trainer to join us as a Senior Lecturer for Secondary English.

As a subject specialist for Secondary English, you will be required to train trainees how to teach their subject specialism (including the planning and delivery of Subject Pedagogy workshops), observe trainees in their teaching practice experience schools, work closely with school partners and mentors, support recruitment activities and undertake admin duties. You will be fully engaged in current and relevant research and able to disseminate, and constructively critique, current thinking in respect of ITE for English teachers with trainees, mentors and a wider audience. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate leadership and management experience, so you would be equipped with the skills should wider roles within the team arise.

It is highly essential that you have either, extensive experience of Initial Teacher Education for Secondary English or have mentored Secondary English trainees on an ITE course, as we are looking for colleagues with a proven track record of successfully supporting trainees to completion of QTS. You must hold a BA HONS degree in English and have QTS status. A higher degree would be desirable.
