Head of Finance UK (m/f/d)

As Head of Finance you will manage a small finance function and will be the right hand of the UK Managing Director. Your responsibilities will extend beyond purely financial matters and include joint decision-making on business matters and broader administrative matters. You will be part of the senior management team and will be responsible for the reporting and legal compliance of the entity. As Business Partner you will support the strategic direction of the business, working towards the achievement of our strategic goals.

YOUR TASKS:

• Guarantee full compliance with all relevant local legislation (e.g.: statutory accounting standards, tax law, civil law) and internal group guidelines
• Manage the year-end audit process and external auditors, securing clean Early Warning Memorandums and clean Management Letters and maintain a comprehensive system of controls over all accounting functions
• Maintain effective credit risk & cash management with a clean sales ledger
• Optimize the balance between customer credit risk and commercial growth, with a proactive and solution oriented mindset
• Manage all local insurance topics, including claims, and general internal inquiries
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive control system regarding misconduct or fraud, by designing company processes to satisfy the 4-eyes principle and ensuring a sufficient segregation of duties as well as a true bottom-up planning process, making sure there is enough time for reviews and feedback cycles
• Create sound financial and operational performance reviews, e.g., month-end closing, budgets, forecasts and reports to the Europe Financial Department
• Manage cash balances and financing requirements with the Group Treasury function
• Measure, review and challenge cost/benefit ratios of the proposed activities and implement best practices
• Support the progress and performance of the subsidiary´s strategic goals

YOUR PROFILE:

• Accountancy qualification (Big 4 ACA preferred), 10 years post qualification experience
• Several years of relevant working experience in SME organisations
• Strong accounting (local accounting standards & IFRS) and taxation know-how
• Proficient in SAP combined with strong MS Excel skills, familiar with any ERP system and any integrated business analysis tool
• Fluent in English, German is a plus
• Self-motivated and adaptable team leader with strong interpersonal skills, a supportive mindset and the capability to handle difficult processes
• Analytical and result-oriented
• Willingness to travel regularly to Germany
