BioClavis Hiring for Software Developer Job at Glasgow, Scotland Full Time

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer to join a small sub-team made up of bioinformatics and data analysts, primarily to support and develop our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Bioinformatics pipelines. As the only software engineer on the team, you will be self-driven and able to work independently but also able to work alongside external contractors as required. You’re probably not an expert in clinical genetics, or maybe not even very familiar with life sciences analysis at all. That’s no problem. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design of new systems and build them from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Planning and Developing our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and integration with company-wide systems

• Looking out for problems with existing code and architecture and suggest/implement improvements accordingly

• Communicating clearly with the Lab team and other stakeholders to ensure a healthy development cycle

• Working with wider informatics team and stakeholders to ensure testing and validation performed to regulatory requirements

Skills and Qualities for this role

Essential:

• Proven industry experience in a development role (minimum 2 years)

• Strong sense of ownership for the success of projects and desire to create new and better systems based on your vision

• Experience using Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript

• Experience of deployment tools e.g., Azure DevOps

• Ability to write test scripts and deploy automated testing e.g., Cypress

• Some experience with relational databases (SQL)

• Excellent communication skills, ability to explain technology to non-technical colleagues

• Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities, solution-based

• Ability to learn quickly

• Friendly and approachable

Desirable:

• Awareness of security concerns, GDPR and ISO quality requirements

Additional Details:

• Salary: within the range of £28,000-£45,000, dependent on experience

• Type: Permanent

• Place of work: Glasgow (Hybrid working considered)
