Binary Stream Hiring for Junior Software Developer (Co-op) – DevOps Project at Burnaby, BC Full Time

We are in search for a Junior Software Developer with in enrolled in a co-op program looking for an 8-month co-op term starting May to help the R&D team with implementing DevOps.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Software Development, Professional Services & Support, the Junior Software Developer is responsible for R&D for the DevOps project. This involves doing R&O, work through the proof of concept and producing reports using Power BI. A Junior Software Developer is responsible for conducting R&D activities and transferring results in the form of prototypes, in order to identify and solve complex technical problems and carry out research in relevant areas, deliver solutions for the Binary Stream, help create products or services. The person would need to collaborate with multiple development teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Junior Software Developer include, participating in R&D of DevOps tools, develop prototypes relevant to Binary Stream products.

Apply creative thinking, analysis and good judgement to propose innovative solutions to technical problems, which may involve a range of diverse approaches.

Evaluate technology through activities such as programming trials, and user tests in order to determine its suitability and effectiveness.

Work with Latest Microsoft technologies and Tools in business applications to see how they can be applied to Binary Stream products.

Learn and share the knowledge about Microsoft business tools and technologies with other technical people at Binary Stream.

Help sales with setting up the demo environments equipped with latest Microsoft business tools.

Experience and Education:
Enrolled in the co-op program completing your Bachelor’s in Computer Science ideally looking for your second co-op term.

Working knowledge of ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) software is an asset.

Strong Software Development experience, Ability to use Microsoft development platforms such as .NET, AI, Power BI and IOT.

Working knowledge of DevOps, JIRA, SpiraTest, or TFS is an asset.

Knowledge of DevOps Automation tools.

Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Knowledge of cloud computing services (ie. Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform).

Strong Database knowledge, in-depth understanding of MS SQL server and able to use Transact – SQL to develop stored procedures.

Core Competencies:
Ability to identify and analyze key business work flow and comprehend business logic.

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, while handling interruptions as part of the routine.

Continuous improvement philosophy with a strong ability to take initiative, suggest changes for process improvements and effectively communicate this to other team members and the Director or Manager.
