Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Sourcing Director, Ingredients leads the North American Ingredient procurement area and works collaboratively with various stakeholder groups across multiple business units including R&D, Technical Services, Operations, Quality, Finance and Marketing to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies, and productivity and innovation projects.

You will provide procurement leadership, support and expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and contract development for North America, as well as being an effective people leader and coach for a team of 4 associates in the ingredient spend areas. In addition to supporting functional initiatives from a procurement perspective, you will also act as project-leader for cost-savings initiatives on behalf of the organization, targeting annual cost reduction.

You work collaboratively with Global Procurement on key category strategies and are a conscientious leader in sustainable sourcing.

Position Responsibilities

• Strategic and people leadership of ingredient sourcing team; strong ability to coach others
• Develop and drive robust category management strategies resulting in tangible benefits to the bottom line and improved risk mitigation. Align closely with stakeholders. Build strategies by deeply understanding ingredient categories, analyzing user needs, and identifying potential new supply sources.
• Analyze market trends and formulate coverage strategies based on changing market conditions. Provide input on key drivers, risk assessment, market conditions using both internal and external analysis. Present recommendations to senior leaders.
• Running transparent tenders, developing multiple diverse sourcing options and constructing clear business proposals. Strong ability to turn data into insights and actions.
• Developing and implementing negotiation strategies. Negotiating purchase agreements with vendors that meet the needs of the business from a commercial and risk management perspective
• Providing strong leadership on assigned categories. Understand and communicate financial impacts. Strong communication skills. Manage vendor relationships and appraise vendor performance.
• Partnering with Global Procurement on implementing global strategies to achieve synergies and cost-reduction opportunities
• Meeting annual cost reduction targets in assigned categories. Identify and monitor cost savings initiatives that are contingent on key stakeholder’s participation. Coordinate activities and ing to keep projects on task.
• Resolve quality and supply issues working closely with Food Safety, Operations, Bakery Tech and R&D.

Position Requirements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• University degree with a minimum of at least 10 years of procurement work experience, in a fast-paced organization (ideally food industry)
• Experience in the food ingredient space in North America
• Must possess excellent analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Team player capable of dealing with many internal and external stakeholders at various levels
• A highly energetic individual, that can multitask and prioritize projects based on immediate business need
• Experience in project management dealing with tight timelines
• Proven strategic leadership and change management experience
• Strong negotiation and contracting skills
• High proficiency in MS Office suite (excel, powerpoint, word); ability to translate data into insights
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle
• Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10-20%.
