Job Duties
General The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide range of engagement

Description: opportunities for donors and volunteer board/committee members, as well as administrative and logistical support related to our Development and Communications projects and goals. Duties include maintaining the flow of operations and communications regarding donors and the donor database; supporting internal and external meetings and events; and managing special projects.

Examples of Primary Dutites:

• Relationship Building: Work closely with Director of Development on relationship-building efforts. Conduct donor research and engage in prospect qualification process and deepening relationships with current donors. Accurately capture constituent information and interactions in donor database.
• Fundraising Campaigns: Coordinate the major gifts program, managing the systems and software required to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools. Collaborate with the Director of Development to renew and upgrade donors’ commitment to the annual fund campaign and special projects campaigns.
• Events: Participate on the team working to plan, organize logistics for, execute and follow-up on all BSLT events and donor appreciation hikes. Coordinate with staff, partner organizations, and contractors to plan and manage Race for Open Space annual fundraising event, including obtaining event permits as necessary.
• Direct Mail: Participate on the team working to produce and send all direct mail appeals and general communications pieces. Manage vendor relationships and price quotes for printing and mailing.
• Donor/Volunteer Database: Support the maintenance and accuracy of donor information.
• Communications: Work with Communications Manager and program staff to create content for print and online communications including donor proposals and information packets, program updates, donor and volunteer spotlights.
• Hike Program: Facilitate hike reservations, follow-up with Preserve Managers and respond to hiker inquires.
• General Donor Support: Support donor response to Planned Giving inquires, Tribute Trees and Gift Hiking Passes as needed.
• Other duties as assigned: All employees are expected to support the greater mission of Big Sur Land Trust and may occasionally take on tasks outside this scope of work (e.g. communications, fundraising events, hikes and outings on the land)

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess any combination of the education, training, and work experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Typical qualifying education and experience might include:

• Bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of and experience in Development and Communications techniques highly desirable.
• Proficient in use Microsoft Office Suite Applications with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and database skills, and willingness to learn Salesforce.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Demonstrable results in project management.
• Able to perform multiple tasks at a high level and track a variety of projects.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with experience collaborating in a multi- disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and function as a member of a team.
• Must be public-spirited and committed to Big Sur Land Trust’s mission and strategic plan.
• Organized, highly creative, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented and driven by excellence.

Physical/ Mental Work Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to climb, push, pull and occasionally move equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The employee is occasionally required to travel by car throughout Monterey County, perform mountain driving and hiking/walking.
• This position requires occasional evening or weekend work and rare overnight travel out of town.

Compensation: The annual salary range is $60,000 – $70,000 depending on experience and qualifications. BSLT offers a competitive benefits package including extensive health plan, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage and life insurance; contributions to a 403(b); and paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave.
