This is a consultancy role and the job holder will be self-employed and submit their invoices on a monthly basis. The initial term is six months at 2 days per week
Purpose of the role
To contribute to the attainment of the company’s business objectives by:
· Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company’s financial commitments and plans for growth are met
· Developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control of the company’s business, this includes a review of all existing procedures
· Overseeing the Finance Team activities and helping them to achieve their full potential
Key duties and responsibilities
· Form a close working relationship with the Managing Director and other Senior Executives
· Constantly update the MD on the financial performance of the business. Identify potential problems and suggest solutions
· Provide leadership to the Board’s Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company’s financial performance and strategic position.
· Take overall control of the company’s accounting function
· Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
· Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
· Lead and develop the finance team.
· Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategies and plans.
· Ensure corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed.
· Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies.
· Present annual accounts to shareholders
· Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
· Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate.
· Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers and advisors.

· Work closely with the MD to set corporate objectives and financial targets
Change agent
· Reviewing existing procedures and implementing changes that will promote a streamlined and effective finance function
Budgets
· Work closely with the Senior Management Team to produce challenging but achievable budgets and financial targets
· Raise the awareness of the importance of profitability and managing a sustainable business
Continuous improvement
· Identify improvement opportunities across all areas and develop plans for how these can be achieved
Main challenges of the role
· Reviewing the current systems and processes so that they are ‘fit for purpose’, and implementing changes to strengthen the finance function
· Adapting to a business which is different to the norm and is going through a period of change.
· Assessing the roles and responsibilities within the Finance Team to ensure they work effectively and efficiently
· To promote Big K’s vision for the future and corporate objectives to colleagues, suppliers and customers
o “for consumers to trust the Big K brand and our products to perform to the customers’ expectations and to treat our customers, suppliers and employees with the same high level of care”
· Dealing efficiently with day to day issues and constantly striving to improve internal efficiencies in a cost-effective manner
Essential skills and qualities
· Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification
· Meet the requirement for a commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
· Exceptional communication skills at all levels
· Strong IT skills, always being ahead of new technologies
· Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
· High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
