About the Role

In this role, you will partner with the West Australian Iron Ore General Managers and Managers from Non Process Infrastructure, Integrated Production and Engineering to create and preserve value by coaching, driving productivity improvement and supporting investment decisions.

Key accountabilities:

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the departments with a commitment to timely valuation of business cases ensuring improvement efforts are focused on the things that matter most.
• Identify, collaborate, and evaluate on productivity and value creation initiatives
• Support opportunity framing, valuations, and business case development for capital projects to ensure optimised Capital Investment
• Coach and build commercial acumen with key stakeholders and ensuring departments deliver in line with budget outcomes
• Lead and drive ownership of key deliverables for your departments, including: 5 Year Plans, Budgeting, quarterly Forecasting and month end in collaboration with Planning & Analytics team
• Identify, analyse and provide recommendations to resolve financial issues when they arise
• Provide support and training on key financial systems and processes
• Provide financial governance to the departments, ensuring the appropriate treatment of operating and capital expenditure as well as ensuring assets are capitalised in a timely manner

About You

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• An effective and collaborative team player with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships, communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation to drive the right value outcomes for BHP
• Skills, knowledge and experience in financial reporting, financial analysis and the provision of financial advice
• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems
• Engage with operational teams to identify, advise and evaluate productivity and value creation initiatives
• Coach and build business acumen with key stakeholders in financial knowledge and the use of information systems to determine cost and budget outcomes and to improve understanding of financial implications of decision-making
• Demonstrated application of project accounting principles
• Demonstrated experience in developing specific goals and plans to prioritise, organise, and accomplish work requirements, meeting prescribed deadlines and objectives
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative, effective and outcomes based working relationships with diverse teams and individuals
• Finance, commercial and business development experience
• Demonstrate leadership capabilities combined with a high level of technical competency

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience in finance business partnering with key stakeholders across an organisation
• Prior experience in the mining industry

Qualifications

• Degree qualified; Finance, Commerce/Business or Engineering preferred, but not mandatory
