Bethel College (North Newton, Kansas) invites applications for a teaching position at the level of assistant/associate professor in software development, beginning August 2022. The search committee seeks evidence of excellence in teaching and in research as well as a commitment to mentoring undergraduate research in a liberal arts setting. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to build and shape a new program in software development, with most courses offered every other year. Along with the core curriculum of general programming courses and software design, the program includes introductory courses in programming languages, operating systems, and database management systems. Preference will be given to candidates who are comfortable with different modes of teaching and learning and are willing to develop and teach some online courses. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred, but ABD will be considered with 18 or more credit hours in the discipline. Student teaching assistants will be available. The position will also entail working collaboratively with colleagues in mathematics and natural sciences. Non-teaching duties will include student recruitment visits, retention, academic advising, and participation in committee work.
