Job Summary: Identifies and generate s for all patients who have delivered newborns the previous day. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Massachusetts State mandated rules and regulations governing the preparation of birth certificates and paternity acknowledgments. Utilize independent judgement in dail decision-making practices. Demonstrates the capacity to provide empathy and to use tact in different interpersonal situations. Prioritize the daily operation of the Birth Registration department in order to provide optimal, timely services to our customers. Give attention to detail and is able to manipulate daily utilizing computer equipment.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Identifies patients who have delivered newborns the previous day. Compile and assemble a variety of s containing legal, clinical and statistical information. Prioritize work plans and coordinate resources necessary to complete the birth certificate registration Process.
• Telephonic interviewing of patients. Explaining complex rules and regulations governing birth certificates registration. These rules and regulations set by the Department of Vital Records and statistic may include paternity acknowledgements, affidavits of non-paternity and federal documents.
• Following Massachusetts State mandated guidelines interprets data provided by patients and clinicians. This data includes educational and clinical background, prenatal behavior patterns and ethnic origins.
• Identify and prepare legal affidavits and notification letters for appropriate patients. Acts as Notary Public witnessing signatures and certifying legal documents.
• Coordinates availability of specific interpreters for patients with language barriers. Works collaboratively with nursing staff and social services to ensure patients needs are met.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
