Experience Design at Best Buy Canada drives the vision for the experiences we create for customers, store associates & employees. We are a large and growing team of diverse specialists in UX, UI, Digital Design, and UX Writing. We are truly agile and embedded across different problem spaces across Best Buy.

We are looking for a Junior Digital Designer to join our digital retail teams. This specialist role will work in an agile team alongside UX designers, Digital Merchandisers, Content Strategists, Retail Managers, Scrum Masters, Marketing Specialists and UX Writers to craft experiences for our Retail categories. You’d be focused on creating assets that support the delivery of customer-first shopping experiences across bestbuy.ca and supporting digital retail channels.

In this role, the successful candidate is needed to be in the greater Vancouver, BC area, where we practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you’ll do:

• Execute visual communication & experience strategies while working within Best Buy’s brand & design guidelines

• Collaborate with your design peers across the organization to drive consistency and grow your design practice

• Prepare & deliver design assets for bestbuy.ca that support responsive, standards-driven experiences

• Solve problems from a user-centered perspective, and always thinking customer-first

• Bring Experience Playbooks to life to evolve the customer experience of our sales events based on user research and analytics

• Clearly communicate your design rationale to help educate and advocate the value of user-centered design in your team

• Help grow and polish our community design standards and guidelines to drive the consistency and quality of our work

• Navigate a dynamic Agile environment that requires independent self-direction and an aptitude for open team collaboration and communication

What we’re looking for:

• 0-2 years of experience in an individual contributor role on a product or web design team

• An online portfolio demonstrating how your designs bring digital experiences to life

• An understanding of how to design for and using a content management system

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and maybe some Adobe Animate

• Basic understanding of how to design responsive digital experiences

• Fundamental understanding of branding, layout, colour theory and typography in digital media

• Attention to detail and some experience providing QA on your deliverables

• Understanding of how to read detailed requirements and apply them to your design process

• Ability to apply your design skills to a defined business or user problem

• Hunger to grow professionally in an Agile or Scrum environment

• Highly collaborative mindset that allows you to build trust and accountability

• Ability to embrace change with positivity and enthusiasm

• Some fundamental understanding of designing for web and web standards (XML, CSS, etc.)

• Basic understanding of WCAG Accessibility Standards
