ABOUT THE ROLE

Star Discount Chemist is looking for a People & Culture Advisor to join their team. This position will be the first point of contact for HR queries and will be responsible for providing accurate advice and ensuring that timely support is provided to stakeholders across SDC. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a successful track record working in a fast-paced environment, prioritising workloads and managing competing priorities. Experience working in the retail environment and understanding of multi-site businesses or franchises will be high regarded.

Experience in a similar HR position is advantageous, however this position could also suit someone with experience in people management in the retail or hospitality sectors. This position is integral to the effectiveness of the People and Culture team and the delivery of high-quality support and service to employees and management within Star Discount Chemist.

HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME

• Providing advice relating to first-level employee relations matters (predominantly via phone).
• Preparing and administering compliant employment contracts.
• Coordinating and continuously improving onboarding and induction processes and the experience for new employees commencing within the business.
• Analysis and reporting against Workforce Planning requirements, employee entitlements and trends.
• Coordinating the organisation’s Culture Survey and Employee Pulse Surveys.
• Identifying opportunities to continuously improve the systems of work, processes and service provided by the People and Culture team.
• Providing support and advice across the business in relation to Health and Safety matters to ensure compliance and understanding of a safe work environment.
• Management of any Workcover claims and return to work processes.
• Supporting/Coordinating/Leading end-to-end recruitment and underpinning processes.

ABOUT YOU – WHAT THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE NEEDS TO LOOK LIKE

You will be a fast thinking and proactive go-getter, with experience in a similar P&C role or people management experience from working as Manager or Team leader in the retail or hospitality sector.

• Minimum of 2 years’ prior experience in a generalist HR or equivalent experience in leading a team as a Manager or Team Leader in the retail or hospitality sector.
• Ability to communicate and advise stakeholders on recommended courses of action.
• Well-articulated and professional verbal and written communication
• Customer-oriented approach with a continual focus on improving service delivery to stakeholders.
• Proactive, natural problem solver, process thinker with a high degree of initiative.
• Super high attention to detail.
• A successful career based on building strong stakeholder and customer relationships and a commitment to providing timely, helpful, and quality advice.
• Technically savvy with a strength and passion for simplifying and automating tasks and processes.
• Prior experience and competence using recruitment software and automated processes.
• Sound knowledge and experience using a HRIS.
• Experience providing remote advice and support.

Desirable:

• Qualifications in Human Resources
• Previous experience in managing ER matters.
• Relevant experience managing WHS, WorkCover, and Return to Work processes.
• Knowledge of the Modern Award system and National Employment Standards and experience managing first-level employee matters such as contracts, Award interpretation for managers and employees, and other general matters
