The force has an annual net budget of £125m, and 2022 will see us reach an historic high of 1,423 police officers. The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is utilised to provide the best quality policing service to the people of Bedfordshire.
We will offer successful applicants a wide range of experiences through a variety of placements across the finance function from budget setting to producing the statement of accounts. Through their involvement in the transaction processing work undertaken by the finance team the successful candidate will gain a thorough understanding of finance systems and processes, leading to a strong foundation of core finance skills to run alongside their apprenticeship learning.
Successful candidates will have 4 GCSEs graded 4-9/A-C (or equivalent) including Maths and English, have a passion for Public Sector finance and the drive to be a part of an evolving Finance department fit for the future of Policing. Shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate that they meet the essential entry requirements through interview, presentation and testing.
The role will be based at force Headquarters in Kempston Bedford, with a mixture of home and office-based working.
Successful applicants will be funded to achieve a Level 3 AAT qualification (with the option to extend to Level 4) through Apprenticeship Levy funding which includes 20% off the job training. In addition, applicants will be required to study in their own time in order to pass exams and progress through the qualification.
Applicants are required upload their CV along with a supporting statement outlining how they meet the entry requirements (max 500 words) as outlined on the Role Profile. Shortlisted applicants will be required to pass a verbal and numeracy reasoning test before being invited to interviews, which are expected to take place in June 2022.
