Role Overview:
Bechtel is currently looking for a Veterans Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our US Talent Acquisition team. This position can be based out of either our Reston, VA, Houston, TX or Glendale, AZ office and offers the opportunity for either full or partial telework. In this role, you will report to the Talent Acquisition Operations Manager and will be responsible for building and leading Bechtel’s veterans recruiting strategy in the United States. You will partner cross-functionally with our Talent Acquisition leadership, business leaders, HR business partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies to deliver veteran talent to the business.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with business units in the United States to identify veteran hiring demand and set veteran hiring goals for the region
- Develop and manage relationships with key veteran partner organizations, including specific military commands, transition assistance programs, and veteran internship/apprenticeship organizations such as DoD Skillbridge
- Lead Bechtel’s participation at veteran specific conferences such as SACC
- Develop recommendations for recruitment marketing strategies and vendors to attract veteran talent
- Build a pipeline of veteran candidates that are appropriately aligned to Bechtel career opportunities
- Be the face and voice of Bechtel to the veteran community – actively engage with veterans through events, help veterans understand the transition process and help veterans understand how their specific skill sets and experience can support them in certain roles and career paths within the business.
Basic Qualifications:
- Grade 25: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field plus 5 years of related professional experience OR 9+ years of related professional experience in lieu of degree
- Grade 26: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field plus 8 years of related professional experience OR 12 years of related professional experience in lieu of degree
- Knowledge of relevant employment laws & compliance requirements
- Familiar with recruitment and hiring processes
- Strong external/internal networking and collaboration skills
- Strong communication, relationship management, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated understanding of functional organizations, matrix structure and organizational culture
- Ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience leading a veterans recruiting program and/or designing a veterans recruiting strategy in the US.
- Experience serving in the US military
- Understanding of Talent Acquisition best practices
- Knowledge and experience with behavioral interviewing techniques
- Trained on Talent Acquisition systems & software (SuccessFactors or other applicant tracking systems, Candidate Relationship Management tools, etc.)
- Current AIRS (Advanced Internet Recruitment Strategies) or other related professional certification
- Experience working with global teams and cultures
- Ability to present new recruiting concepts to executive leadership and technical communities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Strong initiative and excellent judgement
