Beairsto & Associates Engineering Ltd Hiring for Senior/ Junior Materials Testing Technician Full Time

As an independent firm with a continuity of experience and personnel since the beginning, we have an intimate knowledge of all of the projects we have facilitated.

We have grown over the years, moving from a staff complement of three people at inception to over 50 personnel today.

This growth has included the expansion of our services from Survey, to Municipal and Civil Engineering, Building Design Engineering, and Oil and Gas Legal Survey. Most recently Geotechnical Engineering & Material Testing, have been added to our service compliment. Now, with four divisions and four office locations, BASE proudly boasts an extensive in-house team of engineers, technologists, draftspersons, surveyors, and support staff, making it possible to oversee almost every aspect of our projects in house and without subcontracted services. Our recent expansion has opened an opportunity for a Senior and Junior Materials Technicians / Lab Technicians for our Grande Prairie location.

Duties and responsibilities

· Conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, concrete and/or asphalt;

· Undertake geotechnical field investigations, including field drilling, sample collection and borehole log recording.

· Communicate with clients, sub-consultants and contractors test results, both orally and written, and external clients with regards to soils, concrete and aggregate;

· Have thorough knowledge of all lab procedures and provide support to ensure proper safety and quality guidelines are maintained;

· Performing and recording routine instrument maintenance and calibration of equipment;

· Actively engage in BASE’s health and safety program & Radiation Safety Program;

· Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and an ability to work in a team environment;

· Experience establishing and maintaining client relationships;

· Experience in a consulting engineering environment would be considered an asset, specifically materials testing, including concrete, compaction testing, aggregates and asphalt;

· Geotechnical Engineering Investigation, Inspections and ing experience would be an asset; specifically geotechnical field drilling, pile construction inspections, foundation bearing inspections, proof rolls etc

· Must have knowledge and experience with related ASTM/ATT/CSA test procedures;

· Valid CCIL and/or CSA certification;

· Must have the ability to review and provide feedback on field and laboratory data;

· Able to travel and work a flexible/ rotating schedule to support field and construction projects;

· Technical competence, analytical abilities and attention to details;

· Class 5 Drivers License in good standing;

· Proficient in Word and Excel;
