JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
1. Performs all the duties of the Application Support Specialist 1 job. Provides technical direction
to the Application Support Specialist 1. Responds to telephone and email requests for support and
provides second-level troubleshooting.
2. Identifies application data quality processes and data issues and recommends appropriate
changes to the application or process to correct.
3. Develops training programs and materials, coordinates and conducts user level classroom
training for a variety of IT applications and enhancements.
4. Prepares or updates system documentation, new or revised operating procedures, instructions,
manuals and other documentation.
5. Monitors and ensures application performance, quality and other standards are maintained;
responds to questions and addresses issues escalated by the Application Support Specialist 1.
6. Meets with outside agencies and other BC Hydro business units to gather information required
to clarify their business requirements and to determine how these might be integrated into an
application; analyzes information from a systems and process perspective and recommends how
to proceed with client’s request.
7. Plans and coordinates assigned portions of change management plans; may assign specific
activities to the Application Support Specialist 1.
8. Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the
job.

This is a hybrid role requiring two days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday). This role will support

Working Conditions:

Flexible work model role definitions

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
