We are looking for Mobile Software Engineers to join the Sport App team.

As a Software Engineer for the Sport App team, you will have the opportunity to join an engineering team that delivers an intuitive and engaging sport-oriented experience to millions of audience members every day.

To be successful in this role you will need a good understanding of object-oriented programming, clean architecture, and test-driven development. We usually work in Swift, with some back-end work using TypeScript, so experience with these languages and the mobile ecosystem is valuable.

Main Responsibilities

• Work closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues to break down product requirements into technical deliverables
• Help deliver the technical implementation of product features as part of a pair/team
• Follow engineering best practices within the team
• Ensure that engineering output is fit for purpose and thoroughly tested
• Participate in the continuous improvement of the team through fast feedback loops
• Participate in knowledge sharing both within the team and across iPlayer more broadly

Are you the right candidate?

• Highly motivated to learn, develop and grow yourself and others around you
• iOS experience, with understanding of app architecture and design idioms
• Proficient in Swift
• Understanding of OOP, analysis, and decoupled design
• Demonstrable understanding of Test-Driven Development
• Experience of source control systems such as Git
• A track record of producing maintainable code within collaborative environments

Desirable:

• Experience with Continuous Integration/Deployment in mobile apps
• Knowledge of TypeScript and service APIs for mobile apps
• Experience of building accessible applications
